Diksha is a sacred vow of discipline taken by devotees to deepen their devotion to the Lord. Devotees of Veerabhadra Swamy take up such observances with prayer, simple living and service.
The duration, rules and the day of beginning and concluding the diksha differ from family to family and from priest to priest. Please consult the temple priests on the Contact page before beginning your diksha.
Veerabhadra Swamy Deeksha
Devotees take Veerabhadra Swamy Deeksha (also called Nakshatra Diksha Mala) for 11, 21 or 41 days. During the Brahmotsavams (Jatara), Deeksha Viramana – the concluding ritual – is performed at the temple.
During the Deeksha
- Daily prayer and remembrance of the Lord’s name
- Simple living, self-discipline and service
- Guidance from the temple priests on rules and the day to begin and conclude
